Constitution Memorial Day

Constitution Memorial Day is a national holiday held on May 3, at the start of the Golden Week. This day celebrates the 1947 Constitution of Japan, and has been a holiday since the start of said constitution.

While this day is seen as another holiday for the Golden Week, some Japanese use this day to reflect on the meaning of democracy, as well as on the Japanese government.
